I know I’m not alone in singling out the Holidays as a favorite time of year. I think it’s because the Holidays are synonymous with that special festive “something” in the air that you can’t quite put your finger on, but that you know everyone looks forward to.

That special something that I can’t quite put my finger on overwhelms me every year. I find myself being grateful for all the good things in my life, and in particular for the people in my life whom I love and who love me (yes, I know, mush-central. Sorry…).

The mushy feelings even permeate to my job (which I happen to love), and what I do is all about our Free Ride Gamer community, so I find myself being grateful for the opportunity to do what I do every day. And in my stupor of Holiday mush, I’m relishing the thought of yet another year – an even better year – of many more new free games and sweepstakes events to make 2011 even more fun than 2010.

Christmas In-game Sweepstakes

The holiday season is upon us, and at Free Ride Games that usually means thinking up ways to give away cool prizes to our prized gamers.

After all, all year long you work very hard at playing top premium full-version games for free, so we figure the least we can do to show our appreciation is give you more cool stuff for free!

Every year we try and conjure a really cool and creative holiday season sweepstakes idea, and this year, we’ve made it easier to enter than ever before.

Here’s how you enter:

1. Play any of the 10 participating games in the sweepstakes.

2. A picture of me, like the one below, will appear randomly every few minutes in the top right hand corner of the game frame. When it does, click on it before it disappears again to launch the entry form.

3. Fill in your details.

4. There’s no step #4, that’s it. Told you it was super easy!

Once you’ve submitted your entry form, you’re automatically in the draw to win one of 40 fabulous prizes with a total value of $10,000!

You can play all 10 of the participating games and enter as many times as you like throughout December. Winners will be chosen randomly and announced in the New Year.

Samantha Swift and the Hidden Roses of Athena

In the hidden object adventure Samantha Swift and the Hidden Roses of Athena, Samantha Swift is back and this time the brilliant archaeologist travels to Athens to look for the Scepter of Zeus, whose location has mystified her colleagues for years!

Unfortunately, after successfully tracking down the Scepter, it was stolen by a shady rival. But… not all is lost. Upon return to the Museum of Secrets Lost in Samantha realizes that the shield she found in Athens is part of the legendary roses of Athens!

Legend has it that the goddess Athena bestowed six virtues on Athens in the form of roses: wisdom, art, skill, industry, conquest and justice. When the roses are united in the shield, the bearer will posses god-like mastery of the virtues. However, fearful that such power would fall in the wrong hands, a high priestess ordered the dispersal of the roses to a location foreseen in a vision.

Game Review: Margrave Manor 2 – The Lost Ship
If you’re in the mood for some adventure mixed in with a little bit of mystery, then Margrave Manor 2: The Lost Ship should do the trick!

In the first moments of this sequel to the super popular hidden object game, The Secret of Margrave Manor, the lovely Edwina Margrave receives another mysterious letter addressed to her Grandfather, the famous treasure hunter Edwin Margrave. This time it’s from Thomas Raynes, who claims Edwina has inherited a ship named Aurora Dusk, which was declared lost in mysterious circumstances 10 years ago!

The game begins when Edwina and Tom meet at the old Lighthouse and he immediately takes her to the spooky ship, where they start looking for clues as to the whereabouts of her grandfather. The mystery continues to unfold when they find a letter from the Captain saying they found Neptune’s gold and that Atlantis really does exists! Unfortunately, the crew found out about the secret treasure and there was a mutiny, which resulted in the Captain’s death. Now Edwina and Tom must look for the ship’s blueprint which could lead to the treasure!
